This is definitely the place for me! I’m struggling between slimming world and calorie counting. I like that you don’t have to measure stuff on slimming world but I also like the pure freedom calorie counting offers (as sometimes things dont always fit into your syns)
I’m struggling with consistency. I’ll last a week to 10 days then I’ll have a blow out my sweet tooth is my downfall
Hey, welcome to weigh in time!! I completely understand and I have been there. Having a “cheat” day is absolutely fine BUT changing your mentality about them. Firstly Instead of seeing things as daily see them as quarterly, each day has 4 quarters be as good as you can in each quarter. If you have a quarter or a whole day that’s eating bad. Draw a line under it and focus on the next quarter or the next day. Don’t think because you’ve eaten chocolate that that’s it you have ruined it, you haven’t , just move on. Treats are fine just changing your mentality will help a lot. Hope that helps.
Also try a Ninja Creami, you can have ice-cream every day/night and it’s high in protein and low in calories for a whole pint. I talked about it in my last YouTube video
It looks the business but cant afford the price bracket, is there possibly another brand which would do the same job?? What does it need to have ?? or would any ice cream maker do the job?? Thank you x
the Ninja is amazing, I brought it bring new in a box on Facebook marketplace for ÂŁ80. There are a few on FB second hand and around ÂŁ60/70/80. Definitely worth that cost
Hi just joined !! Really struggling at the moment lacking motivation abd holiday in two weeks do panic mode
Ok, I’m new to the community. I’m a Slimming World target member, so I’ll give a few tips that I believe played the biggest role in my success. Also going to read the other tip as we never really leave this journey…
-
Focus on two tips at a time. Let them become habit before adding more. Don’t spread yourself thin — too many goals at once leads to burnout. Small changes that stick are what really matter long-term.
-
Drink a lot of water — more than you think. We often mistake thirst for hunger. I started drinking water regularly throughout the day and it really helped stop random snacking.
-
More zero-cal drinks or water — avoid full-sugar stuff. I still like a fizzy drink now and then, but switching to zero sugar made a big difference without feeling like I was missing out.
-
Sleep longer. Genuinely, when I got more sleep, I had fewer cravings and felt more in control. Lack of sleep just made me hungrier and grumpier.
-
More protein and fibre. These two keep you full. Once I upped both, I didn’t feel as hungry between meals and it made sticking to plan so much easier.
-
Get all temptation out of the house. If I had sweets in, I’d eat them. So I stopped buying them. Make going for the junk a chore, and make fruit or a healthy snack the easy option. Use your laziness to your advantage.
-
Find some way to measure. Doesn’t matter if it’s calories, syns, or another method — but having some awareness of what’s in your food helps massively, even if you go over.
-
Learn to cook and make your favourite meals, just lower in calories. Fakeaways are your best friend. I still eat the meals I love, I just make them in a way that fits my goals.
-
Eat your veg and lean protein first, and eat loads of it. If you start meals with that, you feel fuller quicker and you’re less likely to overeat on the heavier stuff after.
-
Weigh every day if you can. I know it bounces around, but doing it daily and taking a weekly/monthly average helped me stop obsessing over any one number.
-
Do some form of resistance training — callisthenics or lifting. It’s not just about burning calories, it’s about looking better and feeling stronger. It helped with confidence too. It’s a big topic on its own, but worth it.

Sweetners, fruit, fibre bars and protein bars for the sweet toothed like me
I think chocolate and sweet things are most peoples downfall, me included. I am hoping I have managed to change this though.
I use half of my HeB , Ryvita fruit crunch with currants. I break them into pieces and use a teaspoon of Jim Jams chocolate spread for 1 syn to dip the Ryvita into. Jim Jams is a game changer, it tastes like proper chocolate. I also use Weetabix caramalised mini biscuits and dip these into Jim Jams, They are a HeB and are great with a cuppa. I hope this might be of some help.
First time SW did not work. Perfectly done, My body just rebelled. I thought this was the way to go. It isn’t. Back to Weight Watchers and their Zero point list. I had a 4 lb. whopping gain on white rice, low sodium yellow rice, Angelhair pasta and no added sugar marinara sauce. Brother! Now I see that I don’t do well at all with processed foods. Not happy with an undeserved gain but I see even fat free cottage cheese dealt me a hard blow as I don’t normally eat this.
